Organizational Profile

Mission Statement The North Olympic Salmon Coalition has been working since 1990 to promote robust wild salmon stocks for families, fishers, and local economies by furthering habitat restoration and education on the North Olympic Peninsula.
Detailed Description The North Olympic Salmon Coalition (NOSC) is a community-based non-profit organization that works with willing landowners and volunteers to perform salmon habitat restoration on the North Olympic Peninsula. NOSC is one of fourteen Regional Fisheries Enhancement Groups in Washington State dedicated to salmon recovery. Our education programs take students out to real restoration sites to apply the STEM skills they are learning in the classroom. Not only do these programs plant future forests, but also the seeds for a new generation of environmental stewards. We teach a variety of programs from one hour class visits to multiple year curricula. We work with schools, local organizations, scientists, agencies, adult learning groups and citizens of the community teaching topics such as salmon ecology, riparian processes, restoration, watershed health, stormwater pollution prevention, ecosystem interconnectivity, and much more. Each year over 200 K-12 students participate in our programs!
