||Sustaining homeless and at-risk young adults, because everyone needs someone who cares!
||The Answer For Youth, TAFY, is a grass roots, volunteer run, 501(c)(3) nonprofit, drop-in center for homeless and at-risk youth, young adults up to age 35, and families. Created in 2009, TAFY meets the most basic survival needs of those who live on the streets, at no cost to clients. Four hours a day, four days a week, clients are well fed, warmed, cared about, listened to and kept safe. TAFY provides showers, along with laundry services and clean clothing, which are a necessity when living on the streets. Warm coats, gloves, and hats are as basic as food in the colder months. Tents, which provide basic housing, are given when requested along with sleeping bags. After basic needs are met, the volunteers take the time to actively listen to what the clients have to say and encourage them to take a positive, uplifting course of action. Always under watchful eyes, the clients are able to sit back with a cup of coffee and feel normal, if only for a fleeting moment. Thus planting the seed of hope, that they too, one day soon, can become healthy, housed, sober and stable.
